Attendance and Punctuality

We expect PDQ employees to be reliable and punctual. You should report for work on time and as scheduled. If you cannot come to work or you will be late for any reason, you must notify your supervisor as soon as possible.

There are a limited number of excused reasons for an absence or tardy.

A. Excused Absences:

Military Leave

Death in the immediate family

Jury Duty

Court summons

Extreme weather conditions

Approved leave of absence

Absence reasons not listed are "Unexcused Absences"

Employees will be excused for the first absence each calendar year, Not being at work during the employee's normally scheduled shift for a period of time exceeding 2 (two) hours is considered an absence.

B. Excused Tardiness:

Emergency situations

Extreme weather conditions

Tardy reasons not listed are "Unexcused Tardies"

Employees will be excused for the first tardy each calendar year. Not being at work during the employee's normally scheduled shift for a period of time up to 2 (two) hours is considered a tardy.

C. Leaving work early

An employee must always notify his/her supervisor that time will be missed during his/her normally scheduled shift. The rules previously stated in excused absences and excused tardiness can be applied to leaving work early.

An employee leaving work during his/her scheduled shift without supervisor notification and approval will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including discharge.

Reporting Off

Unplanned absences can disrupt work, inconvenience other employees, and affect productivity. If you have a poor attendance record or excessive lateness, you may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

In case of an illness or emergency and you cannot report to work or you will be late for work, you MUST do the following:

Production Associates:

Before the start of your shift, call the 656-5320 number, which is the number that goes directly to the Production Manager. Leave your Name, Time of Call, Date and Reason for being absent or tardy. If no one answers leave a message and then press the # sign and enter extension number 5342 to reach Human Resources to leave a message with that department also. Leave your Name, Time of Call, Date and Reason for being absent or tardy.

If for some reason it is after the start time of your shift, please do the same as above, but late calls will be addressed when you return to work.

Other employees:

Call the 656-4281 number (unless you know your supervisors direct line) and contact your Supervisor at his/her extension before the start of your shift and then press the # sign and enter the extension number 5342 to reach Human Resources to leave a message with that department also. You may follow up with an E-mail if you so desire, but the first step is to call your Supervisor and Human Resources.

Good attendance is essential to the success of PDQ. Everyone is an integral part of this system, and any absence is a hindrance to everyone’s success. This policy has been written to provide employees with information about acceptable and unacceptable attendance.

During an employees Introductory Period (their first 90 days), the Attendance and Punctuality Policy, including the Point System, will be more strictly enforced.

PDQ Point System

A point system is used to assist managers in determining an appropriate level of disciplinary action

for absenteeism, tardiness, and leaving early.

Points are assessed as follows:

One Half Point

*Tardy, Employee has time, did not call Supervisor (no call cancels "1st offense excused" rule)

*Tardy, Employee does not have time, did call supervisor, not first offense

*Leave work early, Supervisor approval, miss less than 2 (two) hours work, employee does not have time, not first offense

One Point

*Absent, Employee does not have time, did call Supervisor, not first offense

*Leave work early, Supervisor approval, miss more than 2 (two) hours work, employee does not have time, not first offense

One and One Half Points

*Absent, Employee did not call Supervisor (no call cancels "1st offense excused" rule)

Point Count and Levels of Disciplinary Action

2 Points =Verbal Warning

3 Points =Written Warning

4 Points =Written Warning

5 Points =Written Warning

6 Points =Suspension (1 Day Unpaid)

7 Points =Subject to Termination

Points will be reviewed on a rolling 12-Month basis

Points are not assessed for the following:

*Tardy, did call Supervisor, 1st offense or has available time to cover tardiness

*Absent, did call Supervisor, 1st offense or has available time to cover absence

Explanations of Terms:

Tardy= Missing from scheduled shift 0 to 2 hours
